The “COURT OF SHRI RAVINDRA KUMAR PANDEY, ACMM01, ROUSE AVENUE DISTRICT COURTS, NEW DELHI” vide its judgment dated 17th Feb., 2021 has dismissed the criminal defamation case filed by Former Union Minister M.J. Akbar (complainant).
The court while acquitting Priyan Ramani (Accused), held that, ‘Women has right to put her grievance even after decades.’ Further, the court also found that the defense of “Public interest, truth” as pleaded by the Accused backing her tweets relating to Sexual harassment and the #MeToo campaign against the complainant was held as valid and not amounting to defamation.
